Brazil vs Serbia

The Brazilian side kick off their World Cup campaign with a 2-0 victory over Serbia!

Brazil are known for their exciting flair on the pitch, although there was little of that to be had in the opening first half to their World Cup campaign, as the Serbs proved tough to breakdown.

Some static passing and a lack of movement stagnated the Brazilians in the opening phase of the match, until an inciteful pass from Thiago Silva entered the path of Vinicius Junior, only for the Real Madrid winger to squander his oppurtunity, as the keeper came rushing out to deny him the goal scoring chance.

Vinicius Junior again failed to seize another golden oppurtunity after an error at the back gave him the ball in the opposition box.

Just before the end of the half we saw Neymar waltz by a few defenders, but to no avail, as he was quickly closed down. The half ended with the Brazilians having registered just four shots.

Brazil put their foot on the gas in the second half. In the 59th minute a driving shot from Sandro beat the keeper to collide with the post in a moment that had fans on their feet. Just a minute later Serbia opened up as Neymar dribbled inside, with Vinicius Junior seizes the ball from his team mate to shoot on goal. The keeper saved, although Richarlison was there to poach an opening goal.

The forward was there again in the 73rd minute, as outside foot low cross from Vinicius Junior found him waiting, a sublime flick from the Premier League striker then resulted in an agile finish to put them two up.

From that moment onward it was all Brazil, with subs Fred, Antony, and Rodrygo, all making an impact. In the 80th minute Manchester United star Casimeiro beautifully struck the ball and hit the crossbar, coming so close to scoring he almost celebrated before it went in.

The game ended 2-0 with the Brazilian side marching comfortably toward victory racking up 22 shots despite such a lacklustre first half performance.
